Patti has specialized in prevention of human-bear conflicts since 1999, and her work has included managing grizzly bears in Northwestern Montana. Patti has expertise in bear-resistant products and produces the Living with Predators Resource Guides which are utilized worldwide. Patti managed the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks wildlife rehabilitation center where she cared for and coordinated release of more than 70 orphaned bear cubs. She administers the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee’s Bear-Resistant Products Testing Program and the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Black Bear-Resistant Products Testing Program. She has organized several regional human-bear conflict workshops for bear management specialists in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Canada and was instrumental in organizing two international conflict workshops. Patti also serves on the Bear Conservation Fund fundraising committee for the International Association for Bear Research and Management.
